History and process
DANISH QUINOA Group was established
a few years ago by a group of 18
local farmers located in the southern
Danish Islands of Lolland and Falster.
The purpose was to utilize vast experience
with other seed crops among
the growers as well as taking advantage
of our geographical location with
rich soil, ample moisture and plenty of
sunshine. These conditions, combined
with a lot of commitment, dedication
and clever farming, created a solid
background for growing the relative
sensitive Quinoa plants in the variation
of crops cultured here for decades.
Quinoa having been farmed primarily
in South America for more than 6.000
years has very high nutritional values
of, among other things, the important
content of protein. The aim was to initiate
production of this important food
item locally and provide closeness
to the user. This healthy product is
increasingly gaining market shares in
household diets not only in Denmark
but even more so in Europe generally.
Quinoa has proven to have a high market
growth potential both as an individual
food item but also as an ingredient
in many aspects of food preparation
and for other food purposes.
Our company has gained good knowledge
of growing Quinoa and our harvesting
method and product has matured
to a level where we are confident
that it meets the quality demands of
the knowledgeable and critical consumer
in our markets.
We are offering the qionoa variety
VIKINGA (2019 harvest) in an organic
and a conventional version. The product
is food grade and saponin free. We
offer product specifications and certificate
of analysis for all batches. We
maintain strict traceability procedures
allowing us to effectively track our
products from the field to the customer
and user. The growing of our quinoa is
